Stopped in here for a quick drink (or two) with some of my family members. We sat at the bar and were attended to quickly. It was like -10 degrees outside (no exaggeration), and their wood fireplace filled the room with warmth and that home-y smokeyness that I love. It clung to our clothes and we all smelled like it when we left (no complaints here!). The bartender/owner (Brett, I think?) told us that they are known for having something like 50 different beers. That's great, but for once I didn't want beer, so I ordered a cosmo.
We had to hurry back home and couldn't eat, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked tasty! Fried chicken mmmmmm.
The grand total for our 5 boozey drinks was...drumroll please...$21! That's damn cheap! Granted, my cosmo was too sweet and was not the fanciest Cosmo I've ever had in my life, but it's definitely a good deal for the money!
We'll be sure to visit again the next time we're in town! -

Might have fun if you're over 50. Nasty, grimy kitchen...do NOT eat there. Disgusting place.

The service was average at best. Wife ordered a Seagrams Diet Pepsi and didn't even have any Seagrams in it. Ordered the two specials prime rib dip and pulled pork dinners. Prime rib dip was nothing but fat and grissel and the pulled pork was from a can.
I will not return to this restaurant until they change their dinner practices. -

This wasn't a one hit wonder. We went again this past week and had the French dip again. Still awesome!

I've been to Mike's a few times. I've never had a great experience there. Most recently, I went into the dining room entrance at about 8:30 on a Saturday night. I walked in at the same time as another group. The group ahead of me asked to be seated in the dining room, but they were told it was closed and only the bar was open. The group told the owner/manager that they preferred the dining room and since there were still some others in the dinning room asked if he would make an exception. He said no and he let that group leave rather than let them sit in the dining room. I just headed into the bar. I tried to order prime rib but was told they were out, so I ordered a steak instead. Meanwhile, the owner/manager got into a very loud disagreement with a customer over some service related issue. My food arrived and it was okay. Steak was pretty good, sides and appetizers were disappointing. (Frozen food dumped in fryer.)
Mike's saloon in another one of the places that some Sioux City folks think of as a tradition because it has been around a long time. The atmosphere is extremely casual, and it definitely would not make for a good date night. Overall, the food is average but the service, especially the owner, make this a place to avoid, unless you want to have a customer service experience that will make a fun story for your friends and co-workers.
